Buckner Positions for Park Renovations, Easter Celebration, Project Connect and Much More!
Believe in Buckner
Believe in Buckner continues to take an active role in initiatives designed to attract more residents and businesses to the community. Plans are underway to make improvements to the City’s parks. A local grant writer has been recruited to find funding that won’t require tax dollars from citizens. Volunteers are needed and Believe in Buckner remains open to enlisting community input. To stay informed, find them on Facebook.
Additionally, save the date for Buckner Project Connect, Saturday, April 29,, 2017. The event is sponsored by the Health Care Collaborative (HCC) of Rural Missouri, which owns and operates the Live Well Community Health Center in Buckner. The program aims to connect underserved adults with needed resources. The one-day health clinic supports the uninsured and or underserved adults. All services are free.
Project Connect will be held in the same location as last year at First Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church (road closures are planned to facilitate the event). It is not too late for a booth for those interested. Send an email to Bob Vickers, bob.vickers@hccnetwork for a Vendor Registration form.
Anyone wanting to volunteer or help with event planning are encouraged to email Bob Vickers for details. As always, we will serve anyone from any county who shows up but want people around Buckner to know we are there to serve them! HCC is asking for churches and other community groups to help gather items for Exit Bags such as toilet paper, paper towels, deodorant, combs and brushes, as well as many other items.
Renovations continue, while there is a strong potential for several new businesses to occupy space like the body shop, a pet groomer, and a deli and ice cream shop. Additionally, the old City Hall will be turned into an escape room. Just for fun, patrons will be locked inside and must figure out how to get out.
With the help of area schools the Shop with a Cop program is looking to help under served children celebrate Easter. Additionally, a huge Easter celebration will be held in the park. This year, Easter is Sunday, April 16.
Huge Surprise in Store for Buckner
Although The Clarion cannot spill the beans, the City is planning a huge summer surprise for area residents. Our lips are sealed…Stay tuned.
